The Top Erie Restaurants That Are Open for Takeout

As we navigate the sudden changes caused by current events, it’s important to still support local businesses here in Erie. As of March 25th, a “shelter in place” order has been issued for Erie County, which means residents should stay inside if at all possible. However, many restaurants remain open for takeout—and they could really use your support!

Want to treat yourself to a delicious meal? Here are a few of our favorite spots around town.

Mi Scuzi

Pasta takeout

As Erie’s premiere Italian restaurant, Mi Scuzi offers plenty of authentic dishes, as well as a few surprise twists. If you’re craving a big bowl of pasta or the perfect chicken marsala, you’ve come to the right place.

Mi Scuzi remains open from 5pm to 8pm for takeout only. If you prepay over the phone with your credit card, you’ll receive a 15% discount off of anything on their regular menu. You can also bring home a bottle of wine to enjoy with your meal!

Lawrence Park Dinor

Stack of takeout pancakes

If you’re from Erie, then you know that the Lawrence Park Dinor is a local staple. Set in a historic train car, this family-owned establishment is still offering a full menu of traditional favorites…including their famous breakfast sandwiches!

The Dinor is only allowing takeout, and be sure to call in advance to place your order. As of March 25th, breakfast runs from 9am to 11am, and lunch is from 11am to 2pm.

1201 Kitchen

Takeout ramen

This creative Latin and Asian fusion restaurant has some of the best cuisine in Downtown Erie. There’s no better place to sample sushi, ramen, dumplings, and everything in between…and you can still enjoy their dishes from home!

Check out the changing lineup of dinner kits at 1201 Kitchen, since it’s still open for takeout. Their hours are 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm until further notice.

Virgil’s Plate

Square pizza slices

Virgil’s Plate is one of Erie’s favorite pizzerias, and they’re offering a one-of-a-kind experience to brighten your day. For a limited time, you can enjoy their bake-at-home square pizza meal kits, which include toppings, a pre-baked crust, cheese, and sauce. You won’t even have to pay for delivery!

As of March 25th, Virgil’s is open for takeout and delivery at their Cascade Street location from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm. They are not accepting cash.

McGarrey’s Oakwood Cafe

Reuben sandwich

Everyone loves this Erie staple, which features a unique blend of American and Irish dishes. Although you won’t be able to enjoy a pint at the bar, you can still bring home McGarrey’s famous reuben sandwich for a hearty lunch or dinner.

McGarrey’s is open for takeout and delivery, and you can give them a call to learn about their daily soups and specials. As of March 25th, their hours are still 11:00 am to 10:00 pm.

The Brewerie at Union Station

Sandwich with fries

Tucked in the heart of Downtown Erie, The Brewerie at Union Station is a popular spot to enjoy craft beers, bar snacks, and delicious meals. Their Cubano sandwich is one of their most popular items—and you can even enjoy it at home.

The Brewerie is open for takeout only, and they’ll also have plenty of beer for you to bring home. Lunch runs from 11 am to 2 pm, and dinner is from 4 pm to 7 pm.

Please keep in mind that this is not an exhaustive list. Be sure to call ahead to make sure an establishment is open, and don’t forget to practice social distancing if you pick up your food in person.
